Cherry Cruiser – DIY spray make-up ‘20

After 4 years from last DIY paint and 24 months of rainy weather in Amsterdam, Cherry Cruiser needed a bit of love. With my partner’s help I managed to spray paint Cherry again. This is a quite simple exercise for everyone that has a bike. I will explain here the steps.

How to DIY your bike?
  • gloves
  • sandpaper
  • tape
  • some plastic bags
  • 2 bottles of spray paint
  • flowers & stickers, in case your bike has a pretty name

You have to clean and sandpaper the bike, then take down the wheels, put some plastic bags on the saddle, handlebar, chain and pedals, place some tape on the parts where you will not need paint, in my case I covered the silver rings… Finally, hang the bike somewhere to be more easy to spray it. Then paint the bicycle with few coatings. I did my bike in 2 days, to make sure that the paint was proper dried. My recommendation is to do this in Summer time, I did it in November in rainy Amsterdam weather and it took longer to dry. See here the full DIY album.

The final look is great, I am really proud of our work. I was inspired by @flowerbikeman bikes to add more flowers on it, and paint them. Now Cherry Cruiser has red flowers and beautiful lights, she is a real beauty!
